We give you the opportunity to see the wonders of Matcha Pitchi, you can travel by train or follow the original Inca trail by foot. We have other optional trails such as the Salcantay trek or Lares Trek which is more of the scenic treks. There are many other places of interest to visit including Lake Titicaca, Bolivia and much more.

We provide our clients the opportunity to connect with the local people from rural and remote communities. We can arrange a day visit or a weekend visit to the communities were we can meet and interact in the culture of the local communities.

I had such a great time completing the Inca trek to Macchu Picchu with Cuy Adventures. We had a small group of four which made the experience very personal and our guide Nico was incredible. He was very knowledgeable on both the Incan history and all of the local flora and fauna which meant we learnt heaps along the way. The entire team were so friendly and helpful and the meals we were fed along the way were so impressive - certainly no chance for us to be hungry. I would 100% recommend booking through Cuy Adventures if you’re considering this trek

My Journey in Peru

My journey to Peru started in May 2008, where me and a good friend of mine visited the Inca city of Cuzco, which is in the heart of the Andes mountains in Southern Peru. Our journey to Peru including visiting and touring the country as well as volunteering in a local poverty-stricken community and school on the outskirts of Cuzco.

It did take long before I feel in love with this beautiful country and its People, I soon was able to speak some of the language and I was making many new friends. During my time there I also had gained a passion for teaching, in which I was involved in teaching sports and English with the children and craft with the elders of the community. While I was there, I also had the opportunity to hike to Matchu Pitchu and to visit many of the beautiful Inca ruins.

When I returned home after my one months stay, I just wanted to go back I then returned 6 months later to stay for a further 3 months, and then since my trip since 2008, I have returned every year since. (Apart from the years during the Covid Pandemic)

In 2012 I was invited to visit a rural community about 3hours from Cuzco City. I had raised some funds from Australia, and it was around Christmas time, so I visited the local markets and purchased Panettone (Cake) and around 200 cans of milk and several blocks of chocolate to make Hot chocolate for the communities, this is a tradition at Christmas time, I also purchased several boxes of fruit.

When visiting these communities, I experience a cultural shock as it was my first visit to a rural poverty-stricken community, many of the children were orphans and many of them together with the adults had suffered from Malnutrition. After visiting for the one of the villages the first time, when I returned a year later, I was soon visiting additional villages, and I now had passion and helping support these communities. I gained a great relationship with the people in the communities, they had a open heart and respect for me, and I was soon making many more friends (Amigos).

The conditions in these villages are not easy due to the high altitude, it is surrounded by frosty mountains in which is hard to grow crops, most of the community relies on potatoes if anything. These communities were doing it tough, however, they worked extremely hard, and no matter what the circumstances are they were always happy, they welcomed me in open arms. Together with the local school and parish I have been able to provide these communities with support, and it continues still today.

Over the years I had support and have been able to connect others from Australia and across the world to these remote community. One of the projects has been with a scout group on the south coast of New South Wales, the scouts have made Hygiene bags for the children in the communities, which consists of toothbrush, and soap and face washers. This has made a dramatic change to the community in terms of their health and wellbeing, especially during the Pandemic.

My goal today is to continue supporting the local remote communities and helping them establish sustainability in their life.
